Oral Cancer Screening

When was the last time you were checked for oral cancer?

Up to 90 percent of head and neck cancers arise after prolonged exposure to specific factors such as the use of tobacco cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco or snuff, and alcohol. These factors are all closely linked to cancers of the mouth, throat, voice box and tongue. If you have had prolonged exposure to any of these factors, please book in for a routine cancer screening to ensure your health is on the right track.

Oral Cancer Screening

Cancer Screening

Oral cancer screening is part of routine dental exam provided at our clinic. The goal of an oral cancer screening is to identify cancer early, when there is a greater chance for a cure. VELscope Oral Assessment System is a handheld scope which applies tissue fluorescence visualization in order to identify oral mucosal abnormalities.Oral Cancer Screening

Cancer examinations

At ARID Newton-Wellesley, we offer head and neck cancer examinations in conjunction with our cancer screening to ensure you are in optimum health. Careful attention during our routine seven-point examination provides rewarding and useful information, including possible congenital abnormalities, right heart function, relative right and left intrathoracic pressures, the risk of obstructive sleep apnea, signs of infection, malignancy or occult glandular enlargement, and cervical spine structure and function.

Symptoms

There are certain symptoms to watch out for in head and neck cancers. If your body is showing symptoms such as a lump or a sore which doesn’t heal, a constantly sore throat, difficulty with swallowing, or a change to a more hoarse voice, we would recommend you visit us immediately to have our specialists check your condition.Oral Cancer Screening
